Working together to reduce gambling-related harm and strengthen support pathways across North Central London

The North London Tackling Gambling Harms Coalition is a cross-sector partnership of statutory and voluntary organisations across Barnet, Camden, Enfield, Haringey, and Islington, including Thrive LDN, led by Mind in Haringey, working to prevent and reduce gambling-related harm across North Central London through awareness, screening, referral pathways, and improved access to support.

What we do

The North London Tackling Gambling Harms Coalition brings together organisations, professionals and those with lived experience across North Central London to prevent, reduce and respond to gambling-related harm.

Led by Mind in Haringey, the Coalition supports individuals affected by gambling harms, as well as professionals and partner organisations, by improving early identification, access to support and joined-up care. Through partnership working, shared resources, and a consistent approach to screening and referral, the Coalition strengthens prevention, intervention and support pathways across North London.

The programme focuses on building a coordinated, system-wide response by:

  • Improving early identification and screening
  • Strengthening referral pathways and access to support
  • Developing shared tools and resources
  • Increasing awareness of gambling-related harm
  • Supporting prevention and early intervention

It prioritises work with communities at higher risk, including people experiencing poor mental health, unemployment, homelessness, deprivation, substance use, and those from Black, Asian, Mixed and other minority ethnic communities.

Why this work matters

Gambling-related harm is a significant and growing public health issue across the UK. It can have serious impacts on mental health, relationships and financial stability, and its effects are often felt beyond the individual.

People experiencing gambling harms are at increased risk of suicidal thoughts and behaviours, highlighting the importance of early identification, prevention and access to support.
