We are proud to deliver this training and invite you to join us in working towards better mental health in Haringey.
Mental Health First Aid: Two Day Course
Our keystone offering is the Mental Health First Aid: 2 Day Course which takes place once per month at Mind in Haringey for up to 16 people, per course. It is particularly relevant for those who work in the public sector, such as GP surgery staff and police and fire officers, but is useful to anyone who would like to qualify as a Mental Health First Aider.
The course focuses on equipping individuals with the ability to recognise the signs and symptoms of common mental health issues and ways to respond in a supportive and appropriate manner. In addition to aiding you with an in-depth understanding of mental health and wellbeing, it offers practical skills that will give you the confidence to step in, reassure and support a person in distress.
How much does it cost?
The monthly Mental Health First Aid: 2 Day Course is fully funded for frontline staff in Haringey Voluntary and Community sector organisations, residents of Haringey, and volunteers, made possible thanks to funding from the North Central London ICB. For anyone outside of this criteria, the course costs £250 per person. Please note there is a £100 cancellation fee for all bookings where less than 48 hours notice is given.
Mental Health First Aid Half Day
This introductory four-hour session raises awareness of mental health. It covers: What mental health is and how to challenge stigma; a basic knowledge of some common mental health issues; an introduction to looking after your own mental health and maintaining well-being; confidence to support someone in distress or who may be experiencing a mental health issue.
Trauma Informed Practice Training
Knowledge and skills training for all workers who may come into contact with those affected by trauma. Will equip the participants with a basic knowledge of trauma, its effects, the kinds of situations that can bring back memories of the trauma and associated feelings and how these can impact behaviour.
Participants will be supported to understand ways they can adapt their own practice and procedures to reduce risk of activating trauma related distress and increase the availability of care and support for those affected by trauma.
Group Bookings
If you would like to make a group booking for your organisation (up to 16 participants), we can discuss this in more detail and can offer our building to deliver the training.
We have a comprehensive range of Training & Consultancy options that are suitable for organisations and individuals in the workplace. For further information please contact Lynette at lynette@mih.org.uk
