About HSPG

The strategy for suicide prevention in Haringey is led by the inter-agency group Haringey Suicide Prevention Group (HSPG). HSPG is hosted by Mind in Haringey.

HSPG's mission

  • Bring together individuals, groups and agencies working to prevent suicide
  • Better understand the problem of suicide as an urgent public health issue
  • Share knowledge and coordinate activities to prevent suicide and support those bereaved by suicide

HSPG reports to the Haringey Health and Wellbeing Board (HWB) and is a member of the National Suicide Prevention Alliance - NSPA , TASC and the All Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) for Suicide and Self-harm prevention

Members

HSPG members include statutory and non-statutory organisations, GPs and Mental Health professionals alongside local residents who have been affected by suicide. 

HSPG members have been working together since June 2015 to create the Haringey Suicide Prevention Plan (HSPP). In March 2017 the HSPP was presented to the Health and Wellbeing Board and approved.  We are now working hard to implement the plan.

SOBS  - Survivors of Bereavement by Suicide - meets on the 2nd Wednesday of each month
